The Nidar Valentine Sjokolade design, created by Stine Strand, is a unique and innovative chocolate packaging concept. Inspired by the traditional Norwegian sweater pattern known as "Mariusgenseren," this design aims to create a personal connection between the consumer and the product.
The pattern on the packaging is a timeless trend that holds sentimental value for many. It is often associated with activities such as cross-country skiing, weekends at the cabin, and even graduation parties. By incorporating this pattern into the packaging, Nidar Valentine Sjokolade evokes feelings of history, memories, and love.
What sets this design apart is the inclusion of a white paper field on the packaging, where customers can write a personal message. The front of the packaging features the words "To:" and "From:", allowing the sender to address the recipient. On the back, the message "to you, from me" encourages customers to write a heartfelt message, poem, or any other personal touch.
The Nidar Valentine Sjokolade design is specifically created for Valentine's Day, making it an ideal gift for a boyfriend, spouse, partner, parent, grandparent, or friend. The packaging dimensions are 290mm x 80mm, providing enough space for both the chocolate and the personalized message.
Stine Strand's research into food packaging trends revealed that personalized products create a stronger connection between the brand and the customer. The success of Coca Cola's naming campaign on social media further emphasized the value of these connections. With Nidar Valentine Sjokolade, the aim is to not only provide a delicious chocolate treat but also create a memorable and meaningful experience for the recipient.
This design project took three weeks to complete and was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2016. The award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, ingenuity, and a commitment to improving the quality of life. Nidar Valentine Sjokolade is a testament to the fusion of art, science, design, and technology.
